Dental Bridges
If your missing teeth affect your self-confidence and ability to smile, dental bridges are a good solution to replace them. Dental bridges can be used to replace a single tooth or a row of missing teeth.
Why Should I Replace Missing Teeth?
When gaps are left between teeth, the surrounding teeth can easily shift out of place. This causes alignment issues, which affect the look and function of teeth. Missing teeth can also impact speech, making it difficult to speak clearly.
What Is a Dental Bridge?
Dental bridges are made up of abutments, which are supportive structures that hold pontics (false teeth) in place. These false teeth can be colour-matched to the existing teeth so they blend naturally in the mouth.
Types of Dental Bridges
Traditional bridges are most commonly used to replace a gap between two teeth. This type of bridge consists of two crowns attached to the teeth on either side of the gap. These crowns hold the fake tooth in place.
Cantilever bridges also use a crown to anchor the false tooth, but they are used for gaps at the back of the mouth, with only one crown attached to the natural tooth.
